When I started the challenges back in May of 2012, I thought, ” how hard can it be to log 100 miles in 100 days”? Little did I know. And I’m not talking daily steps. I’m talking intentional miles. Miles that you have logged because you carved time out of your “busy” schedule to exercise. We did make a few exceptions (like walking around the Disney theme park or when you have to trek a mile across campus for a meeting), but the purpose was to get moving and making time for your personal health and wellness.
This past Monday we finished up the 8/12-11/19 100×100 Challenge. I am proud to say that it has taken me 5 challenges, but I have finally completed one! I ended up logging 103.11 miles for this challenge. This may not sound like a lot to you, but considering that I had major surgery five days before we started this challenge, it is HUGE! EPIC! STUPENDOUS! I literally logged more miles in this challenge then I did the previous three. It really is much harder than it seems!
I’m still waiting on a few to report miles, but here is the overall scheme of things:
8/12-11/19 Stats
- Number of registered participants: 18
- Number who logged into Facebook group: 15
- Number still participating in group at 3rd check in: 14
- Number who participated but didn’t log all their miles (all 4 check-ins): 4
- Number who reported TOTAL miles (all 4 check-ins): 9
- Number who reported ANY miles (any of the check-ins): 15
TOTAL NUMBER OF MILES REPORTED BY ALL PARTICIPANTS: 1356.72
Monday we start a new challenge and I am really excited – I am setting the bar a bit higher for the group: I am challenging them to complete 1,800 miles total. I know it’s going to be difficult with winter and the holidays approaching (and hibernation for some of us), but all the more reason to set our sights on a BIG goal!
